This painting was inspired by the pair of ravens who live in the forest beside my studio. I love watching them glide overhead and listening to their deep, echoing calls to one another. They’re massive—impossibly majestic—and unmistakably not crows. Every spring, they nest nearby, and I wait eagerly to hear the faint, scratchy squeaks of their babies from the treetops. These two are constant companions in my world, and now, on canvas too.
